Assistant Management Accountant (German speaker required) – Experiential Agency

Reporting to: EU Financial Controller

Salary: up to £40k pa

The Agency

As a global leader in experiential marketing our client supplies the right people for every client campaign event. With headquarters based in the heart of London, they also opened a USA division several years ago and in the UK are an industry leader in their sector. They work with both Brands and Agencies providing event implementation and solutions for top global brands – roadshows, in-store, festivals and cutting edge Virtual Reality events.

The Role

They are looking for a talented assistant management accountant to join their growing finance team as they expand into new markets. Working closely with the EU Financial Controller, you will be responsible for day to day financial operations, coordinating month-end activities and producing month-end reporting and analysis for our German-speaking entities. This will initially include Germany and will expand into Austria later this year.

They are looking for an individual who aspires to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment and who will contribute significantly to continuous process improvement.

The finance team consists of 11 people globally, headed up by the Global Finance Director based in London.

Responsibilities include

  • Month-end and management accounts:
  • Preparation of month-end reporting and variance analysis
  • Support in the production of financial statements
  • Involvement in year-end, audits and budgeting/forecasting
  • Accruals and prepayments and other month-end provisions
  • Balance sheet control account reconciliation
  • Perform intercompany and bank reconciliation
  • Prepare monthly payroll submission and reconciliation
  • Monthly VAT return submission and liaison with external accountants
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Assistance with the preparation of weekly cashflows
  • Involvement in year-end, audits and budgeting/forecasting
  • AP/AR:
    • Processing and production of sales and purchase invoices
    • Credit control, client queries
    • Providing weekly AP/AR report including commentary
  • Ad-hoc:
    • Business Reporting (T&E), Marketing and other ad-hoc management reporting
    • Support on audit and management reporting requests

What we are looking for:

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA part qualified or finalist or local equivalent
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Advanced Excel skills; comfortable dealing with complex formulae
  • Good time management, organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with people at all levels
  • Native speaker level German and experience working for a German entity is a must
