Finance Controller – Digital Agency, London Bridge

Job title: Finance Controller – Direct and Digital agency

Reporting to: MD/CEO

Main Purpose of the role: To hold prime responsibility for managing and controlling the finances of the business and reporting these internally and to the Group

Primary Responsibilities
General business:

  • Oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Finance Department maintain good financial controls and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with statutory authority and audit requirements
  • Maintain integrity of Accounting system (Paprika), ensuring it remains effective and operational at all times
  • Ensure all taxation and legislative requirements are complied with at all times.
  • On a monthly basis conduct balance sheet reconciliation for review by Directors
  • Where inconsistencies to reconciliations emerge take remedial action or refer to relevant personnel as appropriate
  • Involvement in ad-hoc finance projects e.g. remuneration principles, incentivisation schemes, salary quartiles, including liaising with company bankers and accountants

Accounting specifics:

  • Report to the directors on all financial affairs of the company including annual budgets, monthly management accounts and quarterly budget re-forecasts
  • Actively manage with the account handlers all billing, forecast, WIP and aged debtors
  • Provide commercial support (contractual and fee negotiation) and management information ( profitability, utilization, work rate etc) to account teams to drive commerciality
  • Support all invoicing and debt-chasing, including regular reminders and warnings
  • Ensure timely payment of suppliers
  • Monitor cash-flow and cash-flow forecasts
  • Ensure accurate management of WIP with monthly WIP meetings with the account teams
  • Ensure completion of statutory tax and VAT systems
  • Manage accurate pay and PAYE systems
  • Liaise effectively with accountants to ensure speedy and accurate sign-off at year end

Key Experience Required:

  • Part-Qualified ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Evidence of people management
