VisionFR is working closely with an expanding employee owned agency to find a Studio/Traffic Manager who will play a central role in the agency, overseeing the smooth operation of the studio and freelance talent network. Acting as more than a scheduler, you manage resources, capacity and workflows to ensure projects are delivered effectively. With a strong overview of who is working on what, you identify issues early and help maintain a healthy balance between team wellbeing and delivery.
Tasks of the Studio/Traffic Manager
Strategic Resourcing & Capacity Planning:
- Ensure the creative team operates at peak performance by allocating resources based on skills, availability and development needs.
- Maintain real-time visibility of who is working on what to provide leadership with a clear picture for planning.
- Predict creative resource management challenges in the short, mid, and long term, escalating constraints to management with recommended solutions.
- Maintain project resource scheduling software and timesheet data to ensure the agency has accurate insights for forecasting.
Workflow Optimisation & Brief Management:
- Manage the brief intake process with Client Experience, ensuring briefs are clear and complete before allocating creative resources.
- Identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks before they impact delivery or quality.
- Work with stakeholders to set realistic timelines and triage briefs when capacity is constrained.
- Conduct regular resource planning meetings with project leads and the ECD/ACD to align on agency needs.
- Potential to suggest and implement changes to workflow and creative process across the agency.
Freelance Talent Strategy:
- Maintain the “black book” roster of trusted freelance talent across disciplines.
- Facilitate proactive searches for talent, negotiate rates, manage bookings and oversee onboarding to ensure freelancers have clarity on their work.
- In conjunction with finance team, enable tracking of freelance spend against forecasts and flag potential overruns early.
Experience and Skills of the Studio/Traffic Manager
- Experience monitoring utilisation rates
- Ensure a balanced workload, aiming to prevent burnout and support team welfare.
- You’re super organised and have fantastic attention to detail, can make improvements and see your ideas through to completion
- You have the confidence to challenge as appropriate.
- Experience acting as a bridge between departments
- Facilitating communication to ensure staff can conduct their work to the best of their ability.
